Vacationing in Destin, FL feels like paradise – great beaches, good food and great company. This was my second year back vacationing with my boyfriend and his family, and even though Destin isn’t very large, there sure are lots to do and see.
This time around we decided to visit Baytowne Wharf, a little French Quarter inspired town, where drinks are allowed on the “street” and there’s plenty of boutiques and places to eat. My first impression was that it’s a cute and fun place to visit – especially for date night or a night out with your family as it’s also kid friendly.
We walked around a bit before deciding where to eat, since it was our last night to have dinner in Destin before heading home. Visiting Baytowne Wharf was sort of a spur-of-the-moment thing, so we didn’t make any reservations beforehand. Luckily, Marlin Grill was able to seat us, even though everyone there pretty much had a reservation. So, if you do decide to visit Marlin Grill, just call them up and make a reservation before-hand. Also keep in mind that it is on the pricier end of restaurants at Baytowne Wharf.
The restaurant has a great patio space, which is where we had asked to sit, allowing us to take in the aesthetic of the little town. From where we were sitting we could see kids zip lining across the pond on a mini zip line, while others walked around with treats in their hands.
Fresh bread and butter was brought to our table. We didn’t want to fill up on bread and butter, so we tried some just to hold us over until the food arrived. I had ordered a Hickory-Grilled Filet Mignon (pictured above) and it came garnished with onion rings, some garlic and bell pepper medallions on the side as well as some béarnaise sauce. This dish didn’t come with anything on the side, so we ordered a plate of mashed potatoes to share.
The food was delicious and the ambiance of the restaurant was great. I would recommend it and I would visit again.
